Witch's egg / Common stinkhorn from wild collection (Phallus Impudicus) 50 g
Product Details
Weight: 0.05 kg

The common stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus) is a remarkable fungus with a long tradition in natural medicine. Despite its distinctive appearance and intense smell, this mushroom offers valuable health benefits.

Traditional Uses and Modern Findings

Historically, the stinkhorn was used in Europe to treat gout, epilepsy, and inflammatory ulcers. Modern research has identified several health-promoting properties:

  • Immunomodulatory Effects: Polysaccharides from Phallus impudicus mycelium have been shown in studies to stimulate the immune system, indicating potential benefits for supporting the body's natural defenses. (See the scientific study at researchgate.net)
  • Promotion of Wound Healing: A study found that an ointment containing 10% P. impudicus polysaccharides accelerated skin wound healing in rats, suggesting possible applications in dermatology. (See the scientific study at researchgate.net)
  • Antitumor Properties: Laboratory experiments suggest that extracts of this fungus can inhibit tumor growth and partially destroy cancer cells in various lines. (See the scientific study at nourishica.com)
  • Thrombosis Prevention: Studies indicate that Phallus impudicus extracts may reduce blood clot formation, which could be particularly relevant for patients at increased risk of thrombosis. (See the scientific study at nourishica.com)

Usage and Preparation

Our stinkhorn "egg" (Phallus impudicus), collected from the wild, is cut in half and gently dried at a maximum temperature of 40°C to ensure optimal quality. This careful processing preserves the valuable ingredients and the full aroma of the mushroom.

To ensure the highest quality, hygiene, and shelf life, all our mushrooms are vacuum-packed. This packaging method reliably protects them from moisture and external influences, preserving their full aroma and valuable ingredients. Thanks to airtight sealing, our mushrooms remain long-lasting—without artificial preservatives.

In the kitchen, the stinkhorn is valued in its early development stage, the so-called "witch’s egg." After removing the outer shell, the inner part can be consumed raw or cooked, offering a mild, radish-like taste.

Note: Despite the promising health benefits, products from Phallus impudicus should be used with caution. Improper use or dosage may cause unwanted effects. It is recommended to consult a professional before use.

Origin: Northeastern European wild collection.
